Guide: Maintain your jewelry

To maintain the vast majority of jewelry, you can use only hot water, sulfo, a soft toothbrush, a clean cloth and/or cotton swabs.

Leave the jewellery soak for a few minutes in the hot sulfo water, then scrub with the toothbrush. Wipe the cloth.

Highly stubborn dirt, such as under the stone of a ring, can subsequently be removed with a needle. Perhaps it is necessary to repeat the bath or apply a drop of salmiakspiriut. Be careful with the latter as it is strong.

Be aware that if your piece of jewellery has a stone affixed, do not soak. Wipe off the jewellery with a hard-wrung cloth and possibly cotton buds.

If you are unsure what your jewellery can tolerate, it is of course a good idea to ask a professional for advice. It may also be a good idea to check your jewelry annually at a jeweler.
