Garnet brooch

with a large cabochon cut garnet surrounded by smaller faceted garnets and with a closed back of gilt metal.
The closed back and the long pin indicate that the brooch probably dates from the 19th century.
The centre stone has age-related wear and one stone in the wreath is of slightly off colour.
