Effie Hegermann Lindencrone bowl with hermit crab

3.500,00 kr.

manufactured by Bing & Grondahl 1914 - 1915.

Effie Hegermann-Lindencrone (1860 - 1945) was originally educated at the Drawing School for Women. However, she was also interested in ceramics and together with her friend and later roommate Fanny Garde (1855-1928) was employed by Bing & Grondahl in 1886, where they were to make underglaze decorations on the Hejrestellet created by the factory's artistic director Pietro Krohn (1840 - 1905) for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1888. Gradually, both women provided their own models for the models they decorated.

Fanny Garde became known as the creator of the Seagull dinnerware and Effie Hegermann-Lindencrone worked mainly with modeling plants and animals and created many unique pieces. They both remained with Bing & Grondahl for the rest of their careers.

It is likely that Effie Hegermann-Lindencrone herself decorated the bowl. See the signature on the back.
