The business in 1970

OUR HISTORY

One day in 1964, my mother, Ketti Hartogsohn, was on her way to Lysberg Hansen and Therp on the corner of Palægade and Bredgade to look at fabric for a sofa. On the way, she passed an antiques store at the other end of Palægade. She became interested in a sofa on display, and when she went in to inquire about the sofa, she talked to the lady who was handling. It turned out that Mrs Dalgaard and her husband had been running the business for some years. Now the man was dead, and Mrs. Dalgaard wanted to divest the business. This is how my mother opened Antique & Art in Palægade 8 on 1 January 1965. Whether she bought fabric for the couch, I don't know.

Since 1997 I have run the shop under the name Hartogsohn Antikviteter. The shop's specialties have always been jewelry, glass and porcelain, but also much of everything in between. At Hartogsohn Antiques you'll find everything from fine antique, old and beautifully used jewelry to the exact piece you need for your glassware, porcelain or silverware. You can also always find a fun, exciting gift with soul and history. Quality and charm are very important parameters in the selection - and history, of course. Personally, I can get emotional when I see a royal porcelain plate from the early 1800s, for example. I can't believe that someone once sat and painted it, and it's still both beautiful and functional.

Find what you're looking for and dreaming of in the webshop or come into the store to explore a universe of antiques.

I can't wait to welcome you.

Yours sincerely
Ira Hartogsohn
